Grow Stuff Privacy Policy

Draft — not yet reviewed
This wording is a working draft and has not been checked by anyone qualified to check it. Do not rely on it, and do not link an app store listing to it until it has been reviewed.
Draft. Grow Stuff has not yet been published, so there is no existing policy to match this against. It has been written directly from the app's source rather than guessed at, but still needs a legal read before the app ships and before this page is linked from an App Store listing.
The short version
Grow Stuff has no account, no login and no server. Everything the app knows about your garden lives on your phone. The only thing it sends anywhere is a purchase, and that goes to Apple, not to us.
What the app collects
Your progress. Which areas you have chosen to work through, which projects and steps you have ticked off, your XP, levels, badges and streak. This is the content of the app — without it there is nothing to show you on the Today tab.
A trial marker. If you use the free trial for a paid area, the app stores the date it started. That's it — a date, with no name, email or device identifier attached to it.
Nothing else. No account, no name, no email address, no location, no photos, no contacts, no health data. The app verifies steps by self-report checkbox, not by photo, so it never asks for your camera.
Why we collect it
Progress data exists to run the app: the Today tab, the wait-gated steps, the streak, all read directly from it. The trial marker exists to apply the free trial fairly — one trial per area, per device.
Neither is used for analytics, advertising, or anything beyond making the app work.
How it is stored
Your progress is stored on your device only, using Apple's SwiftData framework. It is never sent to a server, because the app does not have one.
The trial marker is stored in the device Keychain rather than in the app's own storage. This is a deliberate choice: Keychain entries are designed to survive the app being deleted and reinstalled, which stops someone getting a fresh trial for free by uninstalling and reinstalling. It contains only a date — never a name, account or device identifier — and it is set to never sync to iCloud or any other device.
Third-party services
Apple, via StoreKit, handles payment when you buy access to a paid area. Apple processes your payment details directly; this app never sees your card number or billing address. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction: apple.com/uk/legal/privacy.
The app includes no analytics, no advertising, and no other third-party SDK.
Data retention
Progress data is kept for as long as the app is installed, and is deleted along with it.
The trial marker is different: because it lives in the Keychain specifically to survive deletion, it is not automatically removed if you delete the app. It expires on its own after one year from when the trial started, at which point the app treats it as if it never existed. It contains nothing that identifies you, and cannot be used to identify you.
Children
Grow Stuff is not directed at children and is not designed with a young audience in mind. We do not knowingly collect data from children, though as set out above the app does not collect personal data from any user, of any age.
Your rights
Because Grow Stuff holds no personal data, there is rarely anything to act on. If you are in the UK or EU, data protection law still gives you rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability over any personal data a company holds about you, and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
If you would like your trial marker cleared regardless, contact us and we will explain how, or you can wait for it to expire on its own after a year.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. The URL will not change.
