This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of Your information when You use the Service and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.

The words whose initial letters are capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

• Application refers to Chinese Word of the Day, the mobile application provided by the Company.
• Company (referred to as either "the Company", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Privacy Policy) refers to Wynyard Grove Labs.
• Country refers to: United Kingdom
• Device means any device that can access the Service such as a cell phone or a digital tablet.
• Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
• Service refers to the Application.
• Service Provider means any natural or legal person who processes data on behalf of the Company to facilitate or improve the Service.
• You means the individual accessing or using the Service, or the parent or guardian of a child using the Service.

Children's Privacy

The App is designed for children ages 5 and under. We are committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable children's privacy laws. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children or any users of the Service. The App contains no advertising, no social features, and no account registration of any kind.

Collecting and Using Your Data

Types of Data Collected

The App does not collect Personal Data. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, or device identifiers.

The only data stored by the App is an anonymous list of words a user voluntarily saves ("saved words"). This data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) with no user account, device identifier, or any personal information linked to it. Saved words are used solely to allow users to revisit words they have chosen to keep, and can be cleared at any time within the App.

Use of Your Data

The anonymous saved word data is used only to provide the save/recall feature within the App. It is not used for analytics, advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.

Retention of Your Data

Anonymous saved word data is retained in Firestore for as long as the App is in use. Because this data contains no identifying information, We have no way to link it to a specific user or device. Users may clear their saved words at any time from within the App.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following Google (Google LLC) services to operate:

• Google Firebase Cloud Functions — serves the daily Chinese word to the App. No user or device data is included in these requests.
• Google Firebase Firestore — stores the user's anonymous saved word list. No personal information is associated with this data.
• Google Translate Text-to-Speech — generates audio pronunciation of Chinese words. Only the Chinese character string is transmitted; no user data is sent.

Google's privacy policy governs data processed through these services: policies.google.com/privacy.

The App does not include analytics services, advertising networks, or any other third-party SDKs beyond those listed above.

Sharing of Your Data

We do not sell, trade, or share user data with any third parties except the Google Firebase infrastructure described above, which is required to operate the Service. We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other parties.

We may disclose data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or government agency).

Security

The security of Your data is important to Us. Firestore security rules ensure that only the App's backend functions can write word content; direct writes from clients are blocked. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure and We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Links to Other Websites

Our Service does not contain links to third-party websites. The third-party services listed above (Google) are used solely to operate the App and are not browsable by users.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes are effective when posted on this page.
